Temporary Visas

Temporary Visas

Nonimmigrant visas allow temporary entrance into the United States for specific purposes such as attending school, work, medical needs or to visit friends and family. The amount of time the visa allows someone to stay in the United States will depend on the type of visa and on the facts presented in the person’s application. Once a person has been admitted under  a temporary visa, it may be possible to extend the duration of the visa or to change the status of that visa so the person can stay longer or engage in different activities than those permitted under his or her original visa. It is therefore important to carefully consider which category of visa to apply for when entering the United States. We work closely with our clients to understand both their immediate as well as their long term needs. This way we can chart a plan that will maximize their chances of successful entry into the country and allow them to take the necessary steps to achieve future goals.
